Leben und Karriere

Im Alter von fünf Jahren stand sie das erste Mal auf einer Theaterbühne. Seit 1989 dreht Chandra Wilson Filme für Fernsehen und Kino. So wirkte sie zum Beispiel im Jahre 1993 beim Film Philadelphia in der Nebenrolle der Chandra mit. 2001 bekam sie ihre erste große Rolle in der Fernsehserie Bob Patterson. Zudem wirkte sie in mehreren Werbespots mit, u. a. für Burger King.

Seit 2005 spielt sie die Rolle der Dr. Miranda Bailey in der US-amerikanischen Serie Grey’s Anatomy. Mit dieser Rolle gelang ihr der internationale Durchbruch. 2007 bekam sie für diese Rolle den Screen Actors Guild Award als beste Darstellerin in einer Fernsehserie – Drama verliehen. 2009 wurde ihr bei den Emmys für den Part der Miranda Bailey und der Hauptrolle in Don McBreartys Fernsehfilm Accidental Friendship eine Doppelnominierung zuteil.

Chandra Wilson ist verheiratet und Mutter eines Sohnes (* 2005) und zweier Töchter (* 1992 und 1994).
